Travel Requirements

All of our FlyDirect holiday destinations are within the EU, if you hold a British issued passport please see below information so that you are ready for your holiday:

Check your passport, on the day of travel it must:

  • Have at least 3 months left after the day you plan to leave your holiday destination
  • Have been issued less than 10 years before the day you arrive on holiday. (even if it has 3 months or more left)
  • For example; to travel on 21st December 2024 for 7 nights, your passport must have been issued on or after 21st December 2014 & must expire on or after 21st March 2025
  • Make sure you have adequate travel insurance that covers your healthcare
  • Check you have the right driving documents, you may need an international driving permit (IDP). You can check this on the relevant government websites along with any costs involved
  • At border control, there is a small possibility that you will be asked to show your return ticket and that you have enough money for your stay.
  • For further information read ABTA’s advice for travellers or visit the following websites Government of Jersey or Government of Guernsey or Government of Isle of Man.

The above advice refers to FlyDirect passengers travelling on a British passport, including those issued in Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man. FlyDirect Passengers who are EU nationals must carry their National ID card or EU passport when travelling between the EU and Britain.

FlyDirect passengers who are travelling with a passport issued outside Britain or the EU must check the entry requirements for the countries they are travelling between.

It is the passenger's responsibility to ensure they have the correct documentation, and/or entry Visa where one is required.

    EES - Entry/Exit System

The EES is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals each time they cross the external borders of the European countries using the system.

Along with the collection of data from your travel documents, information recorded and stored in the system will be:

  • Date and place of each entry and exit
  • Facial image and fingerprints (biometric data)
  • Whether you were refused entry previously
  • Should you require any further information regarding the EES system please see the official website here: travel-europe.europa.eu

This data collection system was due to be introduced from the 10th November 2024 and has now been delayed. Once a new launch date is confirmed we will update our website and holiday information accordingly.

    ETIAS Information

In the future all passengers travelling to a country within the EU, holding a British passport will need to apply for a ETIAS travel authorisation before your trip, as the UK is no longer part of the European Union.

Full details of the start and details date of the ETIAS programme are still to be announced, but is currently expected to be mid-2025 so will not affect anyone travelling in 2024. We will keep this page up to date with relevant information as we receive it.

The ETIAS Authorisation will be linked to your travel document once you apply (passport) and it will be valid for 3 years or until the travel document you used in the application expires (whichever comes first.) Every person travelling will require an ETIAS and the cost will be €7. Some people are exempt from the fee, including those under 18 years, those over 70 years and those who are family members of EU citizens along with non-EU nationals who have the right to move freely within the EU, but still require the ETIAS.

Further details will be provided, once a launch date has been confirmed.
