Our Managing Director, Robert Mackenzie, recently enjoyed an unforgettable stay at IKOS Porto Petro in Majorca. Read on for his Ultimate Luxury Stay in Majorca experience below:
Introduction to IKOS Resorts
In June 2024, we travelled to Majorca to enjoy a week of rest and relaxation. Several regular travellers with FlyDirect had recently been praising their experience of IKOS Resorts, having stayed in their property in Marbella.
IKOS is a Greek hotel group which opened its first property in Halkidiki, Northern Greece in 2015. In June last year, the group opened its latest incarnation in the south-east of Majorca, adjacent to the town of Porto Petro and about an hour’s drive from Palma Airport. So, given all the positive comments we thought it would be worth checking-out what all the fuss was about.
Arrival and First Impressions
Needless to say, the experience was even better than we were anticipating. IKOS have really taken hospitality to a new level and seem to have thought of absolutely everything to make their guests’ stay as comfortable as possible.
E-Concierge Service and Communication
Most travellers know that first impressions count and IKOS understands this. So, on arrival we were immediately introduced to our personal ‘concierge’, Miruna. The role of the concierge is really that of a fixer, so anything we needed from restaurant reservations, spa or activity bookings, she took care of it. And here is the clever part – it is all done via WhatsApp communication, which is quick and efficient. Miruna, or one her colleagues, would always respond within minutes and organise whatever we requested.
Exploring the Resort
Then, to the resort itself. It is spread over 60 (yes – 60!) acres. There are 7 pools (including one for adults’ only), 2 beaches, 7 restaurants, 4 bars and a theatre. You may think this means the place is over-run with guests, but with just 319 rooms spread across the resort which cover two headlands, it never feels crowded. Occupancy was pretty close to 100% during our stay, but it never felt busy.
All-Inclusive Experience
IKOS resorts only offer an all-inclusive experience. But the quality means that literally everything is included. Whether it is a cocktail mixed with the top brand spirits, a glass of Tattinger Champagne, wine lists that would not look out of place in a Michelin star restaurant, it’s all included.
Gourmet Dining Options
Then there is the food. The restaurants include Spanish, Italian & Asian, as well as a food market. Plus, they have mad an arrangement with a couple of local restaurants and so if you fancy escaping the resort, then you can enjoy a meal at one of these – again all included.
Exclusive Perks and Activities
And there’s more – so much more! Their package includes use of a Tesla car for the day. We drove to Palma to meet some friends and as a first experience of driving an EV, was mightily impressed.
Two spa treatments were also included as were electric bikes, yoga sessions and much, much more. I could go on, but hopefully you have got the picture.
Cost and Value
Of course, all of this comes at a cost. However, once you have swallowed hard, booked and paid, it is an added bonus that at the end of the stay you have no extras bill to pay (unless of course, you have overindulged in the spa with extra treatments).
Conclusion and Booking Information
I have worked in hospitality and tourism for most of my business life. I have never experienced a level of service similar to that of IKOS, it truly is the Ultimate Luxury Stay in Majorca . In the past I have shunned all-inclusive, as it has had some negative images (cheap drink brands, limited hours of availability, poor quality food etc.). However, IKOS’s version is nothing like that.
It seems that the Group has established a strong new niche in the hotel resort market. The Group now operate 7 resorts and are due to open a new one on the Algarve in 2027.
In the meantime, you can book either IKOS Porto Petro in Majorca or IKOS Andalusia in Marbella through FlyDirect. Check availability and book here for your Ultimate Luxury Stay in Majorca.
